Jeep King of the mountain. Elkhart lake Wisconsin, USA.

The Jeep king of the mountain series is one of the best-organised race series there is at this moment. It is invitational only, they invite 8 men and top 8 women. They really tread you like rock stars and there is nationwide television coverage in the U.S. on CBS!

After arrival and resting up a bit in a very luxurious lakeside condo, it was time to focus on the race. The Jeep racecourses are set up according their “Y” concept. Which means, you will race head to head on separate tracks for 1/3rd of the course. After that the courses merge in the ”Y” zone, from where on you can really throw some elbows. The course was good this weekend; it was a bit flat and therefore very pedally and very tiring. Qualifying went well, I ended up 2nd just .05 sec. behind Jill, who won qualifying.

My quarterfinal went without any problems and I went on to the semi final. The semi was a tough one, I was up against Melissa Buhl and we made it a real battle. I was first going in to the ‘Y’ zone but in the next turn Melissa came underneath me and passed me, but in the next turn I was able to make a move and passed her back for the lead. So I made it to the final round. In that final I was up against Jill, who was riding strong all weekend. I got up in the gate really motivated to do well, I was able to stay in Jill’s slipstream but I wasn’t able anymore to make a move. I feel good, and satisfied with the way I am riding again. I’m looking forward to the worlds in two weeks time, down in New Zealand
