Voor de vijfde World Cup van het seizoen reisde Anneke af naar Brazilië. De qualificaties gingen goed, maar in de halve finale ging het wat minder. Anneke is gecrashed en heeft de nacht in het ziekenhuis doorgebracht. Het resultaat? Een hersenschudding. Voorlopig moet Anneke twee weken rust houden. Hier haar persbericht. 

World Cup #5 Brazil.

After 20 hours of traveling I arrived in Brazil. I was really looking forward to a weekend of racing in the tropics.

However this weekend did not go as I had planned at all. I wish I was able to tell you everything in detail, but I am missing a couple of hours in my memory from Saturday, when I crashed pretty hard in the 4-cross semi finals.

Until the 4-cross race on Saturday afternoon, things were going just fine. I did a couple of practice runs on the Downhill to check my lines and I was just having fun riding my bike. Later that day my 4-cross qualifying wasn’t bad, I qualified 3rd.
I remember doing a couple of practice runs on the 4-cross course before racing started. And that is about the last thing I remember.

After that I remember waking up in the hospital, laying in the head scan machine. My head and neck were hurting a lot and I was very confused. Turned out I have a concussion so the doctors wanted me to stay a night in the hospital for observation. That was no fun..… they woke me up a couple of times a night just to make sure I was remembering where I was. Or team soigneur Claire and Felix from the organization stayed with me in the hospital for the night.

Today I still don’t know how the crashed happened. People are telling me that someone next to me lost control on one jump and got tangled up with me, so I was not able to pull up for the next jump and went face first into the ground. I guess I’ll find out as soon as I see some video footage.

Because of my concussion and brain failure I have to chill for the next 2 weeks. I really would like to thank everyone here for their love and support. I hope to be back on my bike soon!!!
