Fort William Word cup #2
The Mountainbike World Cup is up in the Scottish Highlands for this weekends round. It’s a triple event with Cross Country, Downhill and 4cross. I arrived here on Tuesday, and since than it just has been raining. The rain did not effect the courses to bad. The crowd didn’t care at all if it was raining at all, they came out in huge numbers as always.
First on the program was 4-cross on Saturday night. I qualified 2nd and I was feeling strong. We had 16 girls and racing was looking good. The first round I got trough without any problems. The first corner was really tricky, it was hard to go in there leading. In the semi-final I got shut of on the inside in first turn, I lost my speed and before I knew it I was in 4th place and not able to pass anyone any more
. I finished the weekend in a disappointing 6th place.
The downhill course was rough and hard on the arms. It was raining a lot when we had practice the days before. On Sunday afternoon when the finals start the sun finally came out a bit! I took my qualifying run easy and I ended up in 14th place. After a good warm up for the final I pinned it down the hill as fast as I could. There were a lot of people watching us on the course and even more down in the finish area. My arms were blowing up at the bottom of the course. The times for the women were over 5 minutes. I had a good run and with a 12th place I was 1 step closer to top 10 results in Downhill.
Next week I will have the 3rd World Cup of the season in Willingen Germany. So if you want to see some world cup action and you’re not to far from Willingen, come out there and cheer us on!!
Greetings,
Anneke Beerten
